About the Minor Triad

A minor triad keeps the perfect fifth (7) but lowers the third to a minor third (3 semitones), giving the darker minor sound. The root, ♭3 and 5 of D♯ minor recur across the fretboard and underpin minor chords and arpeggios.

Practice tips

Anchor every shape to its root — the gold R markers — and learn the distance to the other tones. The same shape transposes to any root by sliding it along the neck.

Open the interactive trainer and tap every D♯ Minor Triad tone across all six strings until the shape is automatic.
